2. What kind of Clients does Dr. Austin treat at Allied Counseling?
Dr. Austin provides individual counseling, personal life success coaching and corporate consulting services that maximize both personal privacy and convenience for clients experiencing challenges in their everyday life. More specifically, Dr. Austin’s primary focus is working with; individuals, professionals, couples, families and children experiencing problems with stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships and goal achievement. Managing the many issues in our faced paced lives does not always happen smoothly and often becomes a source of escalating problems plus unresolved negativity. That is the time to contact a highly skilled, empathetic and non-judgmental professional who can partner with you in finding solutions to your problems and improve your life. The treatment quality you receive always depends on the knowledge, ability and skill of your clinical psychologist or counselor. The National Register of Health Service Psychologists in Washington, DC lists the names of the most highly vetted and trained Clinical Psychologist in the United States. Dr. Austin is listed there (# 43911) and she has experience working with clients from around the world who have a wide variety of personal, professional and family issues. While continuing to explore the Allied Counseling Website, Dr. Austin wants you to focus on one important thought: “Together We Can Change Your World.” (See: About, Plus Client & Corporate Services).
3. What treatment methods does Dr. Austin use when working with clients?
Dr. Austin partners with clients and helps them in moving forward and starting the next stages of their lives while they continue to cope with complex mental and emotional problems. The goal of all psychological services at Allied Counseling is to help every client become more relaxed, happy, creative and successful and obtain the life they deserve. When starting counseling or coaching, Dr. Austin and each client work together to design an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) based on the client’s personal goals and current challenges. The ITP is modified as major treatment goals are achieved and each ITP may include a combination of different treatment modalities. Because each client is unique and individual differences matter greatly, the ITP plays a major role maximizing treatment success. Clients are often encouraged to keep written notes or diaries about what they have done between sessions and discuss important issues at future sessions. By the end of treatment, every client will have gained increased confidence to more successfully cope with the choices, chances, and challenges they face. Children (ages 3-18) learn these same skills by participating in a program developed by Dr. Austin called MY Millennium Mind Exploration (MMM). The MMM Program is about raising the next generation of leaders and this is their century to make a positive difference. One of Dr. Austin’s favorite career interests is ADHD & ADD Success Coaching with Children, Adolescents and Adults because many of her friends & family have been diagnosed with it. (See: About, Plus Client & Corporate Services).
4. Where and When can I See Dr. Austin and How Long Is Each Session?
Dr. Austin provides confidential, concierge psychological services to clients throughout the world who want the security of knowing their highly trained Doctor will be available to them when and whenever they may be (home, office, traveling). To better address her client’s specific needs, Dr. Austin started offering digital video conferencing (Skype, Facetime, Telemedicine, etc.) about 5 years ago and it has continued to grow in demand. National Surveys find that 95% of clients prefer receiving face-to-face psychological services using video conferencing once they try it. Because many people have grown up using Skype and other forms of video communication (face time, telemedicine), they are not only comfortable with it, but want the convenience and time it saves traveling to an office, parking, and sitting in a crowded waiting room. Dr. Austin also meets with clients at any of the Allied Counseling Affiliated Offices located in Greensboro, NC., New York City, Washington, DC. and Rome, Italy. There is no price difference for either type of session and all sessions are 50 minutes long. (See: Home, About, Personal & Corporate Consulting Sections).
5. How much do counselling sessions cost?
The Regular Appointment Fee with Dr. Austin is $250, and all appointments are pre-paid by using PayPal which accepts the same 4 major credit cards in all countries (AMEX, Visa, Master Card & Discover). Some clients continue paying the Regular Appointment Fee each session. However, studies show successful behavior change usually takes from 8 to 16 weeks and, therefore, most of Dr. Austin’s clients prefer enrolling in the Allied Pre-Paid Advantage Plan which offers them savings of 10,15, or 20 %. (See Hours & Fees Section). The Allied Pre-Paid Advantage Plan has several other major advantages including; reserved same time monthly appointments, plus extended weekday and weekend appointment hours. (See: Specific Advantages for Allied Pre-Paid Plan Clients & Policies & Forms).
6. Does Dr. Austin take insurance at Allied Counseling?
Today, many people do not feel comfortable providing psychological information to insurance companies that require a specific mental health diagnosis for payment and they are aware that using third party payers for reimbursement of any psychological service carries a certain amount of personal risk in terms of privacy including future ability to obtain health insurance, being hired or being promoted. Increasingly, corporations and government agencies conduct thorough background due diligence checks that can be very revealing. Allied Counseling provides receipts for all concierge psychological services and these can be deducted as medical expenses from the client’s tax return. Most Allied clients use the Allied Pre-Paid Advantage Plan to help offset costs and this often exceeds any insurance benefits they may receive and secures their privacy.
7. How does Allied Counseling secure & protect the privacy of client information?
Protecting sensitive client information is one of the highest priorities at all Allied Counseling Offices. We do not share your information with any third parties outside our offices. We only use your information to respond to you for the reason you contacted us. The Allied Counseling electronic e-mail network and web site are HIPPA Health Care Encryption Compliant and offer clients the ability to both send and receive encrypted information. When you submit sensitive information to us via our website, your information is protected both online and at the Allied Counseling Offices. Secure HIPPA compliant videoconferencing is available using Apple iPhones and iPads. Skype provides another videoconferencing modality and is often preferred by many clients. However, this does not guarantee that Allied Counseling Security Procedures will be 100% effective all the time. Security breaches for all types of electronic communication can occur and require constant diligence.
(See Adult & Parent Treatment Agreement).
8. How often can I see Dr. Austin & how many sessions can I can have?
Allied Counseling does not adhere to insurance company regulations that dictate how often a client can have a session or how many sessions a client can have before treatment ends. Concierge counseling can be open-ended exploring a client’s personal needs and history or it can be relatively short-term focusing on a specific problem. The duration and type of counseling depends on several factors including the client’s goals and current personal challenges. Dr. Austin and each client jointly decide on the frequency and number of sessions. Dr. Austin is never distracted by filling out numerous insurance forms and clients never become just a number in large, impersonal, clinical practice waiting room.
9. Do Dr. Austin’s clients take medication and how does she feel about medication?
That is a personal choice and for some people medication is highly beneficial given the severity of their symptoms. Psychiatric medications are the largest selling and most profitable category of drugs in the United States today, even though they are often marginally effective plus have serious side effects. Most often a combination of counseling and medication works best and can help eventually reduce or eliminate medication.

Where you are treated and by whom you are treated does make a huge difference in your overall progress and success. Choosing a licensed, clinical psychologist having a terminal degree (Ph.D.) from a highly regarded university is a key factor to look for in judging the quality of your future treatment.
